Story

Golgo 13 is a cold-blooded killer for hire, a sniper. His identity - birthday, age, nationality, everything - is shrouded in mystery. Anyone who tries to uncover information about him winds up dead. Golgo 13’s job success rate: about 100%.

Those who hired Golgo 13 for work in the past feared that the truth would get out. Now the “G File”, a document that contains information about Golgo 13 and his work, has been leaked, and ambitious men around the world are squirming. Conspiracy, supremacy, hatred, fear. Driven by these thoughts, they hunt for the G File…

Game

In Golgo 13: Hunt For File G13, you play they role of a journalist following the shadow of the mysterious assassin Golgo 13. Sensitive information about Golgo 13’s dealings has been leaked and former clients are trying to track it down and bury it. Golgo 13 himself is also taking action.

Golgo 13: Hunt For File G13 is an adventure game. You talk to various people to uncover clues and advance the story. It all looks very much like a comic book, complete with text bubbles. During dialog, it looks like you are given some options:

  1. Skipping the dialog
  2. Going back to reread what was said earlier in the conversation
  3. Bookmarking the conversation (to look at later?)
  4. Taking memos in your notepad

Just like you can do with a real comic book.

As your progress through the game, sometimes you are given a choice, such as in this shot:

What do you do? 1) Question her. 2) Pretend you don't notice her. 3) Let her pass and then follow her.

What do you do? 1) Question her. 2) Pretend you don't notice her. 3) Let her pass and then follow her.

Depending on the choices you make, the story will take different branches and as a result the game has multiple endings.

Sometimes text will be highlighted in red:

That reminds me, he said he inputed a special code...

That reminds me, he said he inputed a special code...

You have the option of hitting this colored text with your touchpen (called “text-sniping”). Doing so will often lead you to new information, and a new branch of the story.

Minigames

This game comes with at least three minigames, called “gorutore” (Golgo Training).

  1. Quiz Game - test your Golgo 13 knowledge with this trivia game. 400 questions total.
  2. Ace In The Hole - Looks like a Hogan’s Alley-style target practice game with the touch pen.
  3. Don’t Stand Behind Me Game - Golgo 13 hates it when people approach him from behind. Bash people who come up to you from behind.

Golgo 13: Hunt For File G13 will be released in Japan on March 26th, 2009 for the Nintendo DS. It will cost 5229 yen.
